This is a a successful name in the NZ Design and Build Construction market with nationwide coverage. They have entrenched relationships with developers and big corporate brands. They build across industrial and commercial up to $80M. Projects span large distribution centres, commercial office blocks, warehousing, complex industrial factories. The forecast programme of works is strong. Their standards are high, their culture is positive, inclusive and focuses on skill development with a high training budget.
They have confirmed projects about to commence which are $20M contract value. Your role will be performing measures, sub-contractor liaison and pricing, cost management and setting budgets, managing and processing variations, final account work in terms of cost reporting and reconciliations. It is important you have worked on D&B projects and can:
- Understand the design process and everything that is involved with this.
- Understand the importance of the client’s brief.
- Know obligations under a design-build contract, which differs from a traditional build-only contract.
- Understand the risks and opportunities involved with design-build contracts.
- Price a project with limited design information.
- Give cost advice for different options and provide solutions to meet a clients brief and stay within budget.
- Identify any gaps in subcontractor pricing and negotiate with subcontractors based on limited design information.
This role would suit an applicant with at least 8+ years of commercial main contractor experience including D&B experience and have relevant tertiary qualifications. Technically you are accomplished with pricing and estimating with an understanding of the market.
